C High D
I usually hate being labeled as anything, but I was surprised and have to admit that the Personal Profile System pretty much nailed it. After reading the description of all the characteristics of "Conscientiousness", I was amazed at how picking vague words to describe myself 28 times could lead to an on point analysis of the type of person I am. However, I am trying not to be tied down to the exact description and approach different tasks and decisions with different approaches when they call for it. As I do this, I begin to realize that this is only a conscience effort to change my ways, calling for my to be very analytical of my every move, therefore sending me further into my title. If I can overcome this self-fulfilling prophecy, I would like to be more of the "Influence" type, if I do not already follow some of these tendencies. I think you can motivate yourself to move to another heading in this Profile System. For example, shy people may overcome shyness and turn into dominant types. So yes, I do believe it is possible.
I think this system is a useful technique, but not reliable or foolproof. There were many words that were so close, that I may have chose differently depending on when I took it, which could have given me another outcome. Plus, I do not want to commit a hasty generalization by saying that just because the test had on point results for me, that results of other students were so truthfully descriptive. This is why I would be hesitant to implement this test as a basis for making any assumptions on classmates or coworkers. However, it would be interesting to see what the results would be for some of my co-workers and family members. If I agreed with the results, I do not think it would be useful, since it would basically be telling me what I already know. Overall, i just think this is an interesting test, but should not be utilized for anything more than interest.

haha a juicepack..
i agree with you on not totally relying on this system.
however, it gives us some suggestion on our shortcomings.
I think if we can take the criticism and advices seriously enough we will figure out how to balance our life wisely.
Good luck to u C high D!
I don't like being labeled either. But it is truly amazing how accurate this test was. Consciously I believe we can change our ways, but only for a short time. It would be very difficult to change the way you have been acting your whole life. From this test, I think we should look at the negative aspects of the descriptions. I think we should consciously try to improve the defects we have.
I agree with the fact that this test is not that reliable. I also fell into the trap of possibly choosing different words at different times. I think it all boils down to the point of whether or not you were honest with yourself in choosing the correct word. Somehow, this test accurately described me as well but I feel if I took it again I would get a different rssult.

I also agree that the test is not reliable too. If you would give this test to a presidential candidate, why would that person not picked "charming," "smart," and "attractive" to describe him or herself? I would not be able to vote and hire a Chief Executive for U.S.A. base on this test, because I would not be able to tell one candidate from another by this simple test alone.
Nonetheless, this test can be a prop in personal interaction, especially during flirtatious opportunity. It is good to be resourceful in difficult situation.
I definitely agree with you on how this method isn't entirely foolproof. Mainly because self-perception does not always (actually, it usually doesn't) coincide with how others perceive you. So how you think you project yourself towards others may not necessarily reveal what kind of a leader you are. Rather, I think it shows more of what kind of a leader we try and strive to be or attempt to align ourselves as, then really a "profile" of what we are.
Nonetheless, I thought the test/method used was interesting and.
Hehehe, Juice pack…
I agree, it was kind of hard to differentiate between some of the words on the test. I was a little confused by some choices and this could have caused different results about my management style. I also think that this test should not be used to strictly categorize people. However, I think it was pretty good in describing your style (You were pretty conscientious by being diplomatic and analytical during the decision making exercise). So, even though the test isn’t full proof, it may still be used to get a general feel for a person’s management style.
"I think you can motivate yourself to move to another heading in this Profile System. For example, shy people may overcome shyness and turn into dominant types. So yes, I do believe it is possible."
Great point! In my honest opinion, I was shocked to see the results particularly on point with my personality. I agree that people make be able to take the initiative and convince themselves to show characteristics of another type of manager. However, I don't think it can last unless you continue to keep at that particular trait. I was a High I, Low C. Not to boast, but when the teacher mentioned that this combo was said to be the most effective, I started to realize that this can easily be lost as well unless I continue to improve my own self being while influencing others to do the same. A great area to focus on is the "things to work on" in your particular type because it can help map out what may be a better approach to various situations.
I agree with you in regards to labeling people. It might sound like a cliché but to me life is a beautiful journey where everyone can become anybody. Life is full with unsought surprises, some of them we can control and some we just can't. One day you are up and one day you are down. If you are rich today, no one guarantees you will still be rich tomorrow. Take Bear Stearns as an example! And this is true for everything in life.
I personally feel that as an adult, you become who you aim to become. It’s true that we are born with some basic traits and characteristics but those are subjected to change. Therefore I agree with you that this test could be a great use for one to evaluate himself for personal interest. Overall I feel that it’s always easier the human brain to place itself in a certain category especially when talking about something as abstract as one’s personality.
Lastly, I definitely see the influential side in you or at least the intent to impact others. I think that a very strong passion to influence others is definitely found in your strong will to be involved and help your classmates whenever they ask for it. Even at times when I am sure it is not always easy. An 'influential' type is rooted in a good heart and caring personality and you definitely have all that. Therefore, I must say that your help is always very much appreciated!!!!

I think to make this test more accurately is to incorporate scenario, where instead of choosing and picking a word that most or least describe an individual, that individual can respond and choose how he or she would react in a number of given test scenarios (preferably virtual realistic, so one can visualize and experience it). This would allow each test participator to perform in an intelligent (or emotional) decision making program, and in the end to generate a more accurate assessment profile of that individual.
It is like a person accidentally walking into a movie scene without knowing he or she is in the movie, and that individual have to respond and act accordingly as each scenario unfolds.
This can be done using virtual realistic technology, or simply having people to act extemporaneously.
I agree in that this test is not foolproof. You cannot judge a person’s personality based on a few questions about words that are so similar. I know this is trying to get to the subconscious but it can be wrong.
I agree with you. Even i do think the same that most of the word were pretty close and had almost same meaning. If you choose the other word you would fall in some other criteria. However, it was an interesting method to label people. I think that this would be best way to sort out a sample from a population for an experiment.
Hey,
No a comment to this post but to your excellent communication skill in today's class activity. Great job!
I have to admit, you were always the first person to volunteer to get up infront of the class whenever given the chance. These seem like the characteristics of a Juicepack.
So yes, this test did accurately assess you
i believe that if we determine what type of a person is , we cannot rely on this system. It might truthfully depict some traits of a person who takes this test, but we cannot put that person in a particular category because another charactericts of that person probably not reflect on this category. However, we might be beneficial to takes some advices from different type
Hey Stefan,
I think that DISC profile system was very good in trying to come as close as possible to our personalities.
Some of the questions I felt were repititive but overall it was able to do very well for all of us.
I totally agree with you. Using a test like that is like labeling and characterizing poeple. Everybody has different sides on their peorsonalities, that a test like that would never be able to show them all.
